Red, white & Blu-Whoo!

Ohmygoshguys!   Three days....THREE...of computer issues.  And I get one problem fixed and start on the second one and it reverses the fix on the first one.   UGH!  I've spent a good chunk of this morning just reloading libraries in programs!

Now that that vent is over....it's time for another challenge at 613 Avenue Create!  As always the challenge is anything goes, but there is an optional twist this week to use your country's colors!

I was lucky enough to use the super adorable Owl Tubs from our sponsor Limited Runs.

I wanted to push myself a bit with this week's twist, and see if I could create something that. at first glance, didn't feel super-over-the-top like an Independence Day card.  So, instead, I chose to make my cute owl into a bookmark using a piece of Bella Blvd. "All American" paper.

I cut two pieces of chipboard with the Tim Holtz "Mini Baroque" die then topped it with paper cut with the same die.  I inked the edges with "Faded Jeans" Distress Ink, then added the branch that I cut from my Silhouette.   The adorable Tubs tops off this side of the bookmark.

To decorate the other side, I simply stamped the Stampabilities "Do More" clear stamp on white cardstock, and fussy cut it out.

I used elastic to make the band that wraps around the book.   Because it's elastic, the bookmark is usable in novels and paperbacks with no slack.  The elastic is adhered between the two pieces of chipboard.

Be sure to go by the challenge blog and see my teamies creations as well!
