It's time for another challenge over at 613 Avenue Create! This week, as always, our challenge is Anything Goes, but the optional twist to the challenge is "Bird's of a Feather" (which is open to interpretations - ie. bird, feathers, wings, etc.)
The generous sponsor that I was lucky enough to work with this week is Oak Pond Creations. I will be honest....I'd never heard of them before, and I was MISSING OUT! There are some STINKING CUTE images available in the shop. Please go check it out!
For my project this week, I chose to work with Edgar the Raven. Now, for some reason, when I was in school the teachers that everyone thought were "mean" were some of my favorites! I learned more from them, and had better relationships with them than most other students. Which may be why Edgar appealed to me. With that waistcoat and monocle, he has the whole stern & wise teacher thing going for him! I chose to play that up a bit with this project.
Somehow, without having any kids at home anymore, I've wound up with an excess of stressed out students in my life! Between some of the kids I work with, my grands, and other various "students" in my life, this time of year can stress me out! Senior projects and upcoming finals and all sorts of things coming due make for some cranky people - so I wanted to give them a little treat they can save for when they need a break from the stress.
I cut out the pillow boxes on my Sillhouette. These papers were great because I was able to find themed papers that fit my theme: typewriters, numbers, a map, and rulers.
I used three different methods to create my sentiment tag. I hand wrote the "have a", I stamped "study" with a set of alpha stamps, and then I used my label maker to type out "break". I added a couple of craft feathers to the back of the tag...just to add a little something more.
Inside the box will be some smarties, a pack of M&Ms, and a web address to either a "study break" playlist, or some free online game that will be a fun escape for a few minutes from the work. I think I will probably throw a couple of these in my purse, so as I hear about the drudgery that school is this time of year, I'll have them handy.
Thanks for stopping by! Be sure to go visit 613 Avenue Create and see what my talented teamies are creating this week!
