Stripes & Ombré

The card I'm sharing today, was one I recently entered into a Designers Showcase call for FSJ Coaches.  We were to enter two cards and a scrapbook page.  As I'm still fairly new to FSJ, I do not yet have access to the full range of products.  That does not mean that I'm not capable of creating something pretty however!   Almost immediately after seeing the graphic for the design call, this particular card came to mind.  

For the background panel of today's card.   I pieced together 3/4" strips of card stock in alternating colors onto a scrap piece of card.  I took a smaller panel of Whip Cream, and blended my Bubble Gum ink up from the bottom, concentrating the color towards the bottom of the panel to create an ombré effect.  After that had dried, I heat embossed the rose and leaf images, then trimmed off the darker edges of the panel.  I then used a couple of the pink tones of Color Burst pencils to add just a slight bit of depth to the rose image.

For the sentiment strip, I heat embossed my sentiment, then lined up the card stock and die in my Platinum machine.  The top plate was placed so that the bottom third of the sentiment was not covered as it ran through the machine.  This partially cut the die, so that I was able to take the strip to my trimmer and cut away the top portion of the card stock, allowing the sentiment to stand above the grounding strip.

A couple of drops of Journey glaze in the upper right corner of the inked panel completed the card.
