I had a bit of an ombre love affair going on, when I was creating my cards for my Leadership Conference Display. It was partially fueled by this fun striped paper that was in the Spring Filled Prints pack. While the coloring of the full piece is more rainbow, when cut to card front size, it is more ombre to me.
I really wanted to emphasize that with the ribbon accent on this card. So I measured out my pieces and got to work creating a mess. In my Media tray, I sprayed some of the Watermelon Splash into a puddle. I soaked my ribbon in water, and then dipped the ends into the Splash. I worked the color back and forth along the ribbon, trying to get a gradient. Occasionally, I'd need to spray the lighter portion of the ribbon with more water, or re-dip the darker portion. In between, I'd dry the ribbon with my heat gun (VERY CAREFULLY!). Then keep going until I achieved the depth of color I wanted. In the end I was left with two pieces of ribbon that were Bubblegum in the center, and Watermelon Fusion on the ends.
I heat embossed my sentiment onto vellum, tied a pretty bow with the ribbon, and added a few sequins for accent. Super fun - and colorful - card!
Thanks for stopping by!
Much love,
