I'll be honest, when I typically think of - or make - Easter Cards, I almost always lean towards a "cute" style. So, when I received the Easter Blessings set in my Designer Showcase box...there was a bit if hesitation about how to go about using it. Because of the Spring theme to the rest of my items, I read Easter all over this set (and not just the name!). When I finally broke through that mental block, that I created for myself, I started to realize just how versatile this set could be - it's perfect for Easter, yes, but will also work for a variety of religious centered occasions, as well as sympathy cards.
For today's card, I chose to add a lot of texture to the background with modeling paste. I cut my card front, and then put my stencil over the top and spread the paste over the stencil. It can take a few passes to get the pressure right. If you push to hard, then your paste will be uneven, or too thin. If you don't apply enough, or even pressure, your paste will be too thick - and will take a VERY long time to dry and look chunky. While the paste was drying, I stamped and die cut my additional pieces. When I stamped the branches on the vellum, I heat set the stamping to make sure it couldn't be smeared. Once all the pieces were dry, I adhered everything together, and used foam squares to add the card front to the card base.
The final touch was to add some pearls in the center of the Cross.
Thanks for stopping by!
Much love,
