Should. Should. Should. I have had a lot of shoulds that I needed to take care of this week, but I really wanted to play in the craft room a bit. So, yesterday, I snuck a few minutes to work on this card. And, I adore how it turned out!
I began by taping down an A2 sized piece of white card stock, then, I secured the Wonderful Wreath Stencil from Altenew on top, and began daubing Fresh Sage Ink through the stencil. (Tip: put an additional piece of painters tape over the berries in the center of the stencil, to avoid any accidents if you drop your dauber.) Once I had the stencil filled in, I removed the stencil, rotated it slightly, and then secured it in place again. This time, I daubed Fresh Forest Ink through the stencil. Using a couple of Color Burst pencils, I added a little shading to the leaves to add some depth. I set that panel aside for a moment, while I ran a piece of Fresh Sage card stock through my Platinum die cut machine with the Layered Scallops embossing folder. I also cut a strip of Mirror Gold card stock for an accent piece.
I made sure my stenciled panel was completely dry, and then carefully prepped the surface with my Embossing Magic Bag, before daubing in the berries from the stencil with Clear Pigment Ink, and heat embossing them in gold. I did do these just a couple at a time, in order to both, not smear the ink, and to see the placement better. Once those were done, I stamped the "Joy" sentiment from the Holiday Script Stamp Set from FSJ, in Black Amalgam Ink. Then I trimmed down the stencil panel, and attached it to the embossed panel with White Liner Tape. I added the gold strip with the same adhesive. Then I added the card front to a white card base with foam squares.
I thought the card needed just a little something at this point, so I used a little bit of 620.8 Phthalo Green Tint Pan Pastel around the edges of the wreath. Anywhere that the Pan Pastel stuck, but shouldn't, was removed with a pencil eraser. A few pearls finished the card off.
I really loved this card! That Wonderful Wreath Stencil from Altenew is stunning, and would make a perfect background for many of their gorgeous floral stamps as well. And the Holiday Script Stamp Set from FSJ has been a favorite of mine for a while now.
Onto a few more shoulds for today. Thanks for stopping by!
