Look for the Light | Essentials by Ellen Release

Hello!

I have something exciting to share today.  There is a new Essentials by Ellen release over on Ellen Hutson, and I had the opportunity to work with one of the new stamp and die sets to share with you today.   I used the new Be The Change by Brandi Kincaid, Essentials By Ellen Clear Stamps and the coordinating Designer Dies

There's a lot of ink blending on the card, so I created the background first.  I stamped one of the butterfly image, from the Clear Stamps, in the place I wanted it, and began by blending out the "glow" that I was creating.  I used Scattered Straw over the stamped image, and allowed the ink to come over the edges of the image slightly.  Then I went over that with Antique Linen, blending out the edges further from the image, and trailing down my card front to create the light trail.  I blended the Antique Linen along the bottom of the card front, then added some warmer tones with Tattered Rose and Abandoned Coral.  I started to add the blues, with Tumbled Glass blended in around the edges of the "glow" and moved on to Salty Ocean, Chipped Sapphire, and finally Black Soot at the top of the panel.  I worked the colors back and forth until I had a fairly smooth blend, and then finally blended all the edges into the glow with the Antique Linen.  I added a few water droplets (simply by wetting my hand and then shaking it over the card front), and also added a few droplets of Shimmer by shaking the Nuvo Shimmer Pen over the background.

On a scrap of white card stock, I stamped the butterfly image again, and then colored in the image with Copic markers.  Once colored, I die cut the image before I added a little detail, with a white gel pen, and a lot of shimmer with the Nuvo Shimmer pen.

Copic Colors Used:
0, C1. C5, C7, BG01, B05, B39
I also used the gel pen to add some dots, and the Shimmer pen to add a bit more sparkle to the light trail on the card front.  This does pick up a bit of color from the background, so I just wiped the brush tip on a baby wipe to remove the ink when I was finished.
I used my heat tool to make sure the background was dry, before stamping and heat embossing my sentiment.  I curled the wings of the butterfly slightly with my bone folder, and attached the die cut image directly over the original stamped image on the background.  I used foam squares to give this wings some depth, while the body of the butterfly is directly attached to the background.  Then I atached the card front to a white card base.

I hope this card inspired you.   The Be The Change by Brandi Kincaid, Essentials By Ellen Clear Stamps and the coordinating Designer Dies are brand new today!  Don't miss out on these and the other new goodies in the  Ellen Hutson release.

Thanks for stopping by!
