Hello!
Today just happens to be Nicole Petersen, owner of Picket Fence Studios, birthday! The Design Team will be posting during the day, sending her #wavesofbirthdaywishes. Nicole loves the ocean, so for her birthday card, I just had to create a fun ocean scene, using the adorable Mermaid Dear Stamp.
I started by stamping the sweet mermaid onto white card stock. I used a light ink, so I could color her in with my Polychromos pencils, without dark visible lines. Once the image was completed, I die cut her out, using the coordinating die.
On a card front sized piece of card stock, I used my Life Changing Blender Brushes to create an easy sandy floor below some blue water (Antique Linen, Pumice Stone, Vintage Photo, Peacock Feathers, and Mermaid Lagoon Distress Oxide Inks).
Once that part of the background was completed, I started stamping the plants. I used the stamp set Things on the Sea Floor for this. I stamped the pieces in different colors. I used Parsley, Marmalade, and Honeysuckle. I colored those images in with pencils, then added the last layer of coral, that I white heat embossed.
I stamped the sentiment, from the Inside Quotes:Birthday Stamp Set, in Black Hybrid Ink. I then, finally, adhered the Mermaid Dear image using foam tape, and then attached the card front to a white card base with more foam.
Supplies specific to this card, are listed, and linked, in the blog post.
